According to a questionnaire survey, Toy Poodles' main causes of death are old age and kidney disease. Yes kidney disease! It affects many people all over the world, but kidney disease is also common in dogs like Toy Poodles.
The kidney is an organ that filters blood to maintain the balance of chemicals, remove waste, and eliminate it as urine. The kidney also regulates blood pressure, regulates body fluid production, and produces hormones that stimulate erythrocyte production.
Since the kidneys play various roles for the health of humans and animals, malfunction of this organ can cause various problems. Dog renal failure or kidney disease occurs when the kidneys fail to function properly and become unable to eliminate harmful waste from the bloodstream. Kidney disease can be either acute or chronic. Acute renal failure is a sharp decline in renal function that causes poisoning or external toxins. On the other hand, chronic renal failure is a renal disease that develops over a period of time.
Early clinical signs of dog renal failure are an increase in water consumption and an increase in urine production. As the disease progresses, more signs are seen. These include anorexia, depression, vomiting, diarrhea, halitosis, ulcers.
To diagnose and determine disease, urinalysis and blood tests such as blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and blood creatinine are necessary. To treat this disease, rinse the kidney with a large amount of intravenous fluid. This process is called diuresis and helps stimulate kidney cells to function again. Other initial treatments include drugs to control vomiting and diarrhea, management of blood electrolyte abnormalities and management of anemia.
Diet and nutrition also play an important role in the treatment of this disease. Low protein, low phosphorus, low sodium diet helps regulate disease progression. Whenever possible please give me a specially prescribed meal to suit your dog's needs. For foods specially formulated for dogs with kidney disease, the amount of protein, minerals and salt is decreasing.
Added advice to all dog owners. The dog proved your house before Fid arrived. Please keep household chemicals such as laundry detergents and bleaching agents out of reach of dogs. In order to detect kidney disease at an early stage it is advisable to perform regular checks with adult dogs.
