Heart disease is the main cause of the death of the western world, but what the public actually knows about it is only a few.
For example, I realize that only a few people are not just one type of heart disease. In fact there are at least 10 different types, which fall into two different categories (organic and degenerative).
The main difference between organic disease and degenerative heart disease is its cause.
Organic refers to a situation where an organ (heart) is damaged by a specific event. This is also called "acute", which means that it happened suddenly or in a short period of time. Degenerative heart disease (also called "chronic") is caused by gradual deterioration over time.
There are two types of organic H. D. - Congenital and rheumatic.
Defects that occur at birth are classified as congenital heart disease. These may affect the heart itself: it may not develop normally during pregnancy, the wall of the heart may be damaged (hole in the heart), or the vessel may not be developed. These defects are more likely to be hereditary or caused by external factors such as drugs or infections during pregnancy. They are usually diagnosed at birth or childhood, but it is not uncommon for symptoms to appear for the first time in adulthood.
Rheumatic heart disease can be the result of a stroke of rheumatic fever. By using antibiotics to treat rheumatic fever, the incidence is considerably reduced.
There are at least 8 specific diseases, which fall into the category of degenerative heart disease. A common factor in this category is that the disease progresses gradually and there are no specific events that caused it.
The majority of people diagnosed with heart disease have some form of degenerative heart disease. This is the type of disease that is the target of the awareness campaign and is a type that can be helpful to prevent by the choice of our lifestyle.
