A cat seizure is usually the symptom of the underlying disease. If your illness is not definitively diagnosed, your cat is said to have epilepsy. These seizures, if it is too long, usually can last as long as 5 minutes or more threatening life.
Cause
Most cats suffer from seizures due to conditions other than epilepsy. Two of the main causes include ingestion of cancer tumor and toxic chemicals. There are certain diseases that your cat can cause a seizure. Three of the most common include feline infectious peritonitis, leukemia virus and immunodeficiency virus.
Diagnosis
In order to identify the cause of a feline attack, the veterinarian must first complete a complete neurological examination and physical examination. With blood tests you can also decide if your cat has one of the diseases mentioned above causing seizures. If you can not identify the cause by these tests, you can conduct advanced tests such as MRI and spinal cord perforation. You may find it very expensive to diagnose the cause of your cat's seizure.
processing
If the veterinarian can identify the specific disease responsible, the veterinarian attempts to treat it. This is usually enough to prevent your cat from having more episodes. However, if the underlying disease can not be diagnosed, or if the cat has epilepsy, the veterinarian may prescribe the anticonvulsant to the cat.
warning
If your cat suffers from a cat attack, there are a few things you should know. You can not stop the attack if the attack begins. Please do not shake or knock your cat to stop it. Unlike us, the cat does not drink a tongue during the episode. Therefore, you should not put your hands in the mouth of your cat. It is because you might get bite badly. Also, we need to judge how long the seizure will last. If you continue for more than 5 minutes you should receive treatment immediately.
